Hi, my name is Jacob and I grew up in Vancouver, Canada - spent a bit of time living in Toronto, and now have the joy of calling London, UK home. I am predominantly a theatre director, but am also a wearer of many hats. I am a maker and creator, and sometimes even a bit of a shaker. I started off as a performer in Musical Theatre, with a great love for dance, which has led me to also work as a choreographer.
I love working on new works and finding new ways to frame existing works to highlight new relevance. On occasion I self-produce, exploring ideas of new ways to bring theatre to new audiences. I am interested in making theatre that is an Event. I believe in celebrating the liveness and immediacy of the theatre - and acknowledging the community-building component of the act of coming together with a group of strangers to invest in a story for a few hours.
I am drawn to work where absence is dramaturgically active — and to theatre that holds grief and love as inseparable.  I believe in making work that is joyful and inspires audiences to engage with their imagination. This is a political act: building an audience's capacity for empathy is its own form of resistance - and I hope that my work encourages audiences to be kinder to strangers, to hold their loved ones closer, and to breathe positivity into our world.
